use water but first of all put on washing up liquid which will help to break down the paint structure, try to use a hose pipe and alter the jet angle
I have used paint remover successfully in the past. Obviously read the labels on the different brands and make sure it is suitable for use on stone. There are all sorts of different stiff brushes and I found one about the size of a large toothbrush in the hardware shop. It had bristles of very stiff nylon (or similar) which worked a treat. give it a good power washing that will do the job. good luck . kenny
