Painting aluminum windows w/ Hammerite Paint, Aluminum color (smooth). But color is coming out blotchy?

The paint is properly mixed, but I cannot get a uniform color with Aluminum color. Would their spray paint work better? Has anyone tried to paint windows with this product? Any other suggestions?Painting aluminum windows w/ Hammerite Paint, Aluminum color (smooth). But color is coming out blotchy?
When painting metals there are a few things to consider.

1. Clean the surface you are going to paint. Soap and water with a wire brush and a final rinse is a good start. This should remove any finger oils, dust, dirt and oxidized older paint.

2. Let it air dry.

3. Apply a primer coat. The automotive primers sold in rattle cans (spray paint) usually do a good job.

4. Let it air dry again.

5. Final coat of paint. I've had good experience with spray paints, Outdoor Krylon seem to be fairly good. Make sure you don't put on an overly thick coat. This might be your problem.

A good rule of thumb is that a few thin coats are better than one thick coat.

Dirt and oils can also give you a blotchy look as the paint ';runs away'; from the dirt.

Since you already have a blotchy coat on you may need to lightly sand it before trying another type of paint.Painting aluminum windows w/ Hammerite Paint, Aluminum color (smooth). But color is coming out blotchy?
isn't hammerite the stuff with the hammered finish? is it a pearlised paint? can you take it back to the store where you bought it?

    1. Aluminum window frames can be quickly and easily spruced up with a little prep work and a couple of coats of paint. Whether you want to change the color or cover up damage.
