How long does it take to repair and paint sash windows?

My landlord wants to repair and paint the sash windows at our property. There are around 6 single and double windows (doubles 6 feet across) One is quite rotten, the wood is split and breaks off easily. Any ideas no how much time it might take to do properly. How long does it take to repair and paint sash windows?
Allowing for the repairs probably 2- 3 days, depending on the weather and how easily accessible they are, and whether they are being painted inside or out - longer if weights and cords are being replaced and how much prepping is needed; also how many people involved - you could have a joiner for the repairs, a glazier for any broken lights and a decorator for the painting.

A bit like nailing jelly to the the wall isn't it?

An hour's prepping sounds like plenty depending on the condition of the downstairs windows - all he is supposed to be doing is removing loose or flaking paint and any stepped edges of the paint left adhering. You could easily strip an entire window on the ouside back to bare wood in that time, but that is rarely necessary or indeed desirable if it is to be repainted.

Sad fact is they won't do a terribly good job such as you might do yourself (which I suspect is the nub of your question) because no-one is certifying their work, there won't be a precise specification, and they won't have to live with the consequences. How long does it take to repair and paint sash windows?
I would say one day for preparation, another for repairs and 2 days for painting
