How can I erase parts of a picture using a Mac, like you can using the eraser on paint on Windows?

I want to print a picture out but dont want all the background, is there anyway I can erase what i don't want off the picture on a Mac like you can on a PC.

Thanks in advance. How can I erase parts of a picture using a Mac, like you can using the eraser on paint on Windows?
Instead of having to buy Photoshop, you should make a photobucket account if you don't have one already, then upload the picture and click edit image. You can do basically everything in photobucket that you can do in Photoshop, including erasing the background. You can either use erase under decorate, or smart cutout under geek. Then just take a screen shot of the photo so it doesn't get resized to a smaller image. Hope this helps. How can I erase parts of a picture using a Mac, like you can using the eraser on paint on Windows?
I tried opening a mac image on a PC, and it didn't work. Try using GIMP.

good luck!
For Mac Leopard user, I suggest Live Quartz: http://www.rhapsoft.com/?menu=livequartz鈥?/a>

For Tiger/ earlier, I suggest Drawit Lite: http://www.getdrawit.com/
